A Treat For Your Feet!

Winter has us in its grip and the cold spell calls for more cosy.  Luckily, we know where to get it.

This cold weather’s a bit tedious, isn’t it? And when you combine biting winds and runny red noses with the sudden departure of the cheese board, PLUS the fact that January feels at least 85 days long…well, something’s gotta give.

So, to cheer things up a bit, how about a middle-of-the-month treat for the tootsies and the home? Something that’ll dial up the cosy factor, yet feel sensibly practical and budget-friendly to boot?

We’ve been meaning to spill the beans about the range of luxurious sheepskins over at Society House and now feels like the perfect time to do it.

If you’ve not yet discovered this total treasure trove, you’ll find it on the edge of Dartmoor on an unassuming industrial estate in Buckfastleigh.  A great big space crammed full of eye-catching items for the home.  Owners Richard and Zoe describe the pieces they source as ‘storytelling homewares’ and that pretty much nails it.  Everything you come across has that “ooh, where did you get this?!” vibe – and the answer, invariably, would include ‘vintage’, ‘handmade’ or ‘sourced from exotic climes’.

But much closer to home is the kaleidoscopic range of sheepskins also found within. Think gorgeously tactile and cosy rugs, throws, cushions and pouffe’s, in all the muted neutrals and calming colours worthy of the interior’s mags. Then think also of fun, vibrant shades for a pop of excitement underfoot (or underbum, of course), from pumpkin to Barbie pink.

The range (and the insanely good price point) is all thanks to nearby neighbours Devonia, the oldest established tannery in Britain, where sheepskins have been tanned in the traditional way for over two hundred years.

This close proximity to the tannery means first dibs and the pick of colours, sizes and designs for Society House, who are their official retailer. You can expect to feel your way through locally sourced rare breed lambskins, as well as sheepskins and goatskins from the Himalayas.  We defy you not to face plant upon a pile and roll yourself around decadently while you’re there.

Yes, we’re fans. In fact, one mini member of Team Dwell has already secured a blush pink one for her bedroom and we suspect it won’t be our last, since this could become an obsession for 2025.

Might see you there, then. Looking a bit…sheepish.
